PRESIDENT & CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Laura Leavitt
Laura Leavitt
Laura provided a broad array of financial services to private businesses for over thirty years. Then, twelve years ago she decided to bring that knowledge and experience to help individuals, families and businesses make smart financial decisions. After working at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, six years ago Laura established her own financial planning firm where she gives personal, independent financial advice.

Laura is a firm believer in education and the limitless ability of women. Helping young women broaden their own vision for the future, providing role models and opportunities for girls to hear about career possibilities and actually participate in hands-on activities that inspire makes a great deal of sense to her. She strongly supports the SAGE mission.

In her free time, Laura enjoys travel, kayaking, camping, fishing and her mini-Schnauzer, Jake.

She was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration summa cum laude by California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. Her studies were concentrated in Finance, Real Estate, and Law.  By completing further rigorous courses in various aspects of financial planning, she earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2004.

Laura is an active member of the Financial Planning Association of Northern California and the Sacramento Estate Planning Council.

SPEAKERS BUREAU DIRECTOR
Susan Wheeler

For the past 20 years, Susan has helped companies define, focus on and realize their business goals. Before opening her own consulting company, Pathfinder Consulting Solutions, she held a number of senior level positions at start-up and established companies including General Electric and AT&T. Susan and her Pathfinder associates work with medium and large companies around the world to improve the way they do business through strategic planning and process improvement. She finds that her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and her MBA from Columbia University provide her with a solid foundation for helping businesses to succeed.

Susan believes that many girls need additional encouragement to consider a career in an under-represented field. She finds that encouragement and inspiration can often come from unexpected sources. The creation of SAGE (Sacramento Advocates for Girls Empowerment) is driven by like-minded women who are motivated to share their enjoyment in succeeding despite challenges. Through SAGE, Susan hopes to open up new possibilities for girls and young women.

TRAINING & EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Allison Goodman

Allison Goodman Allison is currently working as a Project Analyst in the laptop division at Intel. She graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Allison knows first hand the challenges women face when learning and working in male dominated fields, and their need for support, encouragement, and mentorship. She has been very active with the Society of Women Engineers, starting in college and continuing to Sacramento, where she is currently the President of the professional section in the area. While at Cornell, Allison focused her energies on promoting supportive networks to give female students the confidence to continue their studies and realize the opportunities awaiting them. In addition to her involvement with SWE in Sacramento, Allison co-chair the local Women at Intel Network. Her work with this group has connected Intel volunteers with Intel PC Clubhouses, with a computer studies program at Women’s Empowerment, with Junior Achievement teaching opportunities, and with other Intel employees at internal networking events.

Allison joined the SAGE team to continue her focus on promoting supportive networks and developing resources. Her goal is to help young girls have confidence to study in field where women are under-represented and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.

MARKETING DIRECTOR
Amy Rose

Amy Rose Amy is a Sociology student with a passion for young people and social justice. During the past eight years, she has been working with at risk youth in public middle schools, high schools and non-profit organizations throughout the Sacramento region. Amy believes in the power of education, self-empowerment, and peer mentorship.

Traveling independently throughout Europe and studying art for a semester in London has increased her awareness of the world and developed a love for diversity and change. During travels to Africa, Amy was able to see and truly experience the disheartening effects of poverty. She learned that it takes more than money and materials for people to grow, it takes time, knowledge and a sincere investment into their lives.

Amy hopes to pursue a career in Public Policy with an emphasis on education. She is currently a Senior Recreational Aide for the City of Sacramento, a student, and a part time barista. In her spare time Amy enjoys reading, traveling, sewing, and spending time with family.

Amy joined SAGE in early 2011. She is inspired by the movement of women encouraging girls and has a strong connection with youth. She feels SAGE is a powerful way to connect young people to peers and help actualize their dreams. As Director of Marketing, Amy is able to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations to fulfill organizational needs.
